pops, piedras, niñas, duras, merca, hielos, rock&roll, rockstars o Chespi,

The term crack is an onomatopoeia that suggests the noise made by the stones of this drug when heated by the evaporation of cocaine on a basis they contain, when released from the mixture with sodium bicarbonate. It also receives vulgar names by users Of this drug, like rocks, chulas, pops, stones, girls, hard, market, ice, rock & roll, rockstars or Chespi, among others; Sometimes mistakenly confused with the basic paste of cocaine, also called bazuco, paco or pitillo, which is the crust that remains in the pot where they prepare cocaine and is composed of the alkaloids of the plant without refining or purifying.
It became very popular in the 1980s, among other reasons because of its relatively low price compared to cocaine and the ease it presents to process and acquire it. Its side effects are similar to those of cocaine, only that the risk of suffering some complication is higher, by the routes of consumption, prone to produce cardiovascular and cerebrovascular accidents.
Since the 1980s, crack cocaine has been smoked in a glass pipe, with cigar ash on a can with holes, in a glass dropper, on a cigar as a cousin (a name given to cigarette smoke along with crack) , among other. Another instrument used to consume crack is a metal tube similar to a radio antenna (in many cases it is) to which you are introduced a kind of wire (popularly called on the streets as screen / scrin) and used for smoking crack Simulating a pipe. Effects of Crack in the short term
Crack causes an intense short-lived trip followed immediately by the opposite: intense depression, nervous tension and craving for more drugs. Those who consume it often do not feed and sleep properly. They may experience a marked increase in heart rate, muscle spasms, and seizures. The drug can make people feel paranoid, angry, hostile and anxious even when they are not under their influence.
Regardless of what is consumed from the drug or how often, crack increases the risk of the consumer experiencing a heart attack, stroke, seizures or respiratory failure; Any of which can result in sudden death.
Smoking crack also presents a number of health risks. Crack is commonly mixed with other substances that create toxic gases when burned. As crack smoke does not remain potent for a long time, crack pipes are generally very short. This often causes the lips and blisters to break apart, known as a "crack lip" because consumers press a very hot pipe between their lips.
When smoked, the effects of crack are more immediate and more intense than those of cocaine powder.
Loss of appetite
Increased heart rate, blood pressure and body temperature
Narrowing of blood vessels
Increased respiratory rate
Dilated pupils
Disturbed sleep patterns
Sickness
Hyperstimulation
Strange, erratic, sometimes violent behavior
Hallucinations, hyperexcitability, irritability
Tactile hallucinations that create the illusion of insects moving under the skin
Intense euphoria
Anxiety and paranoia
Depression
Intense anxiety about taking drugs
Panic and psychosis
Seizures, seizures, and sudden high dose death (even once)
Effects of long-term use
In addition to the usual risks associated with cocaine use, crack users may experience respiratory problems, including cough.
The long-term effects of crack use include serious damage to the heart, liver and kidneys. Consumers are more likely to suffer from infectious diseases.
Continued daily consumption causes sleepiness and loss of appetite, resulting in malnutrition. Smoking crack can also cause aggressive behavior and paranoia.
Because crack interferes with the way the brain processes chemicals, more and more drugs are needed to simply feel "normal". People who become addicted to crack (as with most drugs) lose interest in other areas of life.
Permanent damage to blood vessels in the ear and brain, blood pressure leading to heart attacks, strokes and death
Kidney, lung and liver damage
Severe chest pains
Respiratory failure
Infectious diseases and abscesses if injected

Severe tooth decay
Auditory and tactile hallucinations
Sexual problems, damage to the reproductive organs and infertility (in men and women)
Disorientation, apathy, confused exhaustion
Irritability and mood disorders
Increased frequency of dangerous behavior
